Aivan kuten kirjan nimikin kertoo, tämä teos kuvailee yhtä aivan erityislaatuista nukkekotia. Kirjan alussa on tosin lyhyet kappaleet nukkekotien historiasta ja muista Masters of Miniature -näyttelyn esineistä ja pienoishuoneista. Patricia Pistner oli kiinnostunut 1700-luvun Ranskasta ja kokosi taloaan, 1750-luvun 9-huoneista ranskalaista kaupunkitaloa itselleen. Napolin taidemuseon perustaja Myra Janco Daniels sai kuitenkin hänet lainaamaan talon museolle, jotta mahdollisimman moni pääsisi sen näkemään.

Just like the title tells, this book is about one very special doll's house. Nevertheless there are short chapters of the history of doll's houses and the other exhibits of the Masters of Miniature exhibition at the beginning of the book. Patricia Pistner was interested in 18th century France and was collecting 1750 9-room townhouse for herself. Myra Janco Daniels, the founder of Naples Museum of Art convinced her that it was important to borrow the house to the museum so that as many as possible could see it.

Kirjassa käydään läpi taloa huone huoneelta mielenkiintoisin tekstein ja ennen kaikkea upein kuvin. Jokaisesta huoneesta on sekä yleiskuvia että lähikuvia esineistöstä. The house is portrayed in the book room by room with interesting text and most importantly wonderful photos. There are overviews of each room and close-ups of details. There are also photos that are taken in a way that makes the viewer feel like being inside of the room. This makes watching this book more personal, the house comes closer to you.

Käsityö on aivan uskomatonta, huoneet ovat todella täydellisiä. Silti talosta saa persoonallisen kuvan, täydellisyys ei tee kuvista kylmiä tai etäisiä. Osa huoneista on hyvin muodollisia ja sitä kautta myös jähmeitä, mutta talossa on lämpöä tuovia yksityiskohtia, kuten muotokuvat Pistnerin pariskunnasta talon aikakauden asuissa ja miniatyyrit Pistnerien lemmikkikoirista. Talossa on myös kauniita ja ihmeellisiä esineitä, kuten toimiva katosta roikkuva kello, joka on tehty lintuhäkin muotoon. Pikkuruinen lintu häkissä liikkuu ja laulaa mekanismin avulla.

The crafmanship is astounding, the rooms are perfect to every detail. Still the house feels full of character. The perfection does not make the photos cold or distant. Some of the rooms are quite formal and almost stiff, but there are things that bring warmth to the house, like the portraits of the Pistner couple in period clothes and miniatures of family pets. There are beautiful and wonderful things in the house, like a working clock hanging from the ceiling shaped like a bird-cage. The tiny bird moves and sings with the mechanism.

Tämä kirja kertoo kiehtovasta suhteellisen uudesta nukkekodista. Kirjan lopussa on melko kattava lista eri esineiden tekijöistä, joille kirja toimii varmasti aikamoisena suosituksena. On upeaa, että miniatyyrien tekemiseen tarvittavaa käsityötaitoa ylläpidetään ja myös tälläisiä kaikessa korkeimpaan mahdolliseen tasoon pyrkiviä taloja tehdään. This book is about a fascinating, relatively new doll's house. There is a rather comprehensive list of makers of details and furniture. This must be a great reference for the makers. I think it is great that the craftmanship that is required for this authentic miniatures is kept alive and that houses this grand are made. The book is beautiful and interesting and it is a pleasure to see that there is so much room for character and spirit in this house with all the perfection. ♥♥♥♥

Käsityö on täydellisyyttä hipovaa ja ensimmäiset huoneet on asetettu näytteille jo 30-luvun alussa. Kuvista ei kulumista juuri hahmota ja huoneita hoidetaankin hyvin, huonekalut ja hopeat kiillotetaan säännöllisesti, pölyt pyyhitään ja kristallikruunut pestään.

This is a grand and glorious book of small and glorious rooms and there are plenty of big, beautiful pictures book. The text is fascinating. There's an interesting american woman behind these rooms and she has been able to find talented people to work with her on the rooms. The handcraft is perfect and amazingly the first rooms were put on display already at the beginning of the thirties. I could not tell the wear and aging from the photos and the rooms are indeed well tended. They are regularly dusted, furniture and silver polished and chandeliers washed.

Kukin huone kuvaa tarkasti tietyn aikakauden ja paikan tyyliä. On kiehtovaa verrata huoneita ja huomata pieniä eroja ja tutkia samalla omaa makua. Nähdä mikä viehättää ja mikä ei niin paljon. Kirjan kuvat ovat valtavan upeita, selkeitä ja suuria. Kirjassa on monia koko aukeaman näkymiä tiettyihin huoneisiin, mutta aika vähän kuvia yksityiskohdista. Oma katse pääsee kuvien kautta kiertämään huoneissa, mutta ulkopuolisena tarkkailijana ja ihailijana. Huoneissa on pysähtynyt, museomainen tunnelma, mutta näitä ei ole tarkoitettukaan kuvaamaan niinkään aikakauden elämää. Silti huoneet ovat todella kertovia tarkkuutensa ansiosta.

Each room illustrates the style of a certain time-period and place. It is interesting to compare the rooms and notice the differences and at the same time study one's own taste. The photos of this book are gorgeous, clear and big. There are many views of the rooms that fill the whole spread. There are not so many photos of details. You can let your gaze wonder around the photos like the rooms themselves, but as a distant onlooker or admirer. There is a still, almost museum-like atmosphere in the rooms, but they were not meant to be focused on the lives of the era they represent. Still the rooms tell so many things!

Vaikka huoneiden yksityiskohdista ei ole kauhean paljon kuvia, niitäkin on. Lisäksi kirjassa on piirroksia, jotka on painettu oikeaan mittakaavaan. Nämä ovat paitsi viehättäviä, myös todella havainnollisia. Minulla taitaa olla jonkinlainen mattokausi menossa, koska huomaan ihailevani monen huoneen kohdalla erityisesti käsinkirjottuja, upeita, valtavia mattoja. Moni huone on jätetty avaraksi, niissä on paljon tilaa ja sekin ehkä antaa katseen huomata matot ja muutkin yksityiskohdat.

Although there are not so many photos of the details, there are some and they are good. There are also drawn illustrations of details printed in scale. This is a nice touch and very helpfull in visualizing the size and proportion of the rooms. I think I have some kind of carpet fever, because I kept on oohing and aahing over the magnificent hand-embroidered huge carpets in many of the rooms. The most of the rooms are really spacious and not so cluttered, which helps in watching. The details show through.

Ainoa moite, joka ei ole edes moite oikeasti on siinä, että kaikki on niin täydellistä. Kyse on makuasiasta. Vaikka kuvista toki nauttii valtavasti, ne ovat niin oikeita ja täydellisiä, että joku tietty vaikeasti määriteltävä viehätys puuttuu. Kyse voi olla siitäkin, että valokuvasta ei oikeasti hahmota, että kyse on miniatyyreistä. Toisaalta näyttää siltä, ettei näissä huoneissa asuta tai jos asuttaisiin, niin elämä ei olisi kauhean mukavaa... Kuten sanottu, tämä moite kertoo vain minun arvojärjestelmästäni eikä kirjan ansioista. Kirja on upea teos upeista miniatyyrihuoneista. ♥♥♥♥

The only slightly negative thing and not really even negative is that everything is a bit too perfect. This is a matter of taste. Even though the photos are very very enjoyable, they are so very perfect that some difficult-to-define attraction disappears. It has a lot to do with the fact that it is difficult to tell that the photos are of miniatures and I think that the impression would be different when one would see the rooms in real life. Also it seems that no-one lives in these rooms and if one would live there it would not be fun at all. I must stress that this note is more about my personal preferences than the value of the book. It is a gorgeous book of magnificent miniature rooms.♥♥♥♥

Curtain making in miniature is a tricky business. It's almost impossible to make functional curtains that look convincing. This book has patterns and instructions for curtains that are draped and molded with for example glue and cardboard. They look real but cannot be moved. There are curtains and drapes for many styles and some ideas to use them not just on windows.

Ohjeet ovat selkeät ja kuvitus kaunis ja havainnollinen. Ohjeita voi helposti muunnella ja yhdistellä ja käyttää inspiraation lähteenä omille keksinnöille. Ohjeissa on niin kankaan käsittelyä kuin tupsujen tekemistä, verhotankojen ja -renkaiden tekemistä ja erilaisten nauhojen monipuolista käyttöä. Hyvät kaavat auttavat verhojen tekemisessä ja laskostamisessa. ♥♥♥

The instructions are clear and the illustrations pretty. The projects can be easily changed and combined and used as a source of inspiration to one's own inventions. There are instructions in handling the fabrics, making tassels, curtainpoles and rings and the use of many kinds of ribbons. Good patterns make it easy to make and fold the curtains. ♥♥♥

Ruoka-asioissa minä olen vähän puolueellinen. Angie Scarrin kirjat ovat ensinnäkin tehneet minuun suuren vaikutuksen. Minusta tuntuu, että ruokamassailijoita on valtavan paljon suhteessa muihin minitaitureihin ja massaruokien taso kasvaa silmissä kilpailun ja uusien tekniikoiden kanssa. Ruokakirjoilla on siis kovat vaatimukset ja vertailukohdat ja ohjekirjan on kuitenkin oltava suhteellisen simppeli.

In matters of food I'm a bit partial. Angie Scarr's books have had a huge impact on me. I also feel like there are so many food miniaturists compared to others that the quality of miniature foods is getting better and better by the minute. There is so much competition and new techniques and materials are developed all the time. It's difficult to give the eye-candy in a diy-book and not to intimidate the makers wanting to learn to sculpt food.

Food Displays on hyvä ja selkeä ohjekirja. Kirjassa on johdantojakso materiaaleista ja tekniikoista, josta saa hyvän kuvan massojen käytön monipuolisuudesta. Pieni huomio siitä, että kirjassa neuvotaan käyttämään scenic wateria. Tämä jää kuitenkin pehmeäksi, kerää pölyä eikä ole kovin pitkäikäinen veden korvike sellaisenaan. Esimerkiksi purnukoiden täytteenä kannen alla se on minulla kuitenkin toiminut hyvin. Itse ruokaohjeita on paljon ja monipuolisesti sekä suolaista että makeaa, vanhaa ja uudenaikaisempaa, kuitenkin brittiläisessä perinteessä pitäytyen. Kirjassa ohjataan tekemään ruuan lisäksi myös astioita ja koreja massasta. ♥♥♥

Food Displays is a good diy-book. The instructions are clear and the photos good. There's an introduction with chapters on materials and techniques. It gives a good idea of the many uses of polymer clay and resins. Small thing about this is how the book advices to use scenic water. It stays soft, gathers dust and is not that durable in itself. I've used it to fill jars and bottles and it has worked fine like that under cover. The food instructions are varied, there are both sweet and savoury foods, old and modern style, but mainly british tradition. There are instructions to make dishes and baskets from clay too. ♥♥♥

Aiemmin olin aivan toivoton, hikisin käsin pusersin neulaa ja sain langat heti ihan solmuun ja laskin pistot ihan väärin. Työ tuntui etenevän epätoivoisen hitaasti. Hidasta se on edelleen, mutta jotenkin rauhoittavaa ja tyynnyttävää työtä.

This is one of my favourite diy books. I think I slowly learned to embroider with the help of this book. Before I dreaded it. I tried to do something with the sweaty fingers and knotty yarn and always counted the stitches wrong. It seemed to take ages to make the grey bundles. It is still very slow work, but somehow soothing and relaxing. And the carpets are so beautiful made with tent-stitches.

Kirjassa on todella hyvä johdanto ja kappaleet materiaaleista, tekniikasta ja mattojen viimeistelystä. Ei kannata panikoitua, vaikka kirjoessa matto venähtää salmiakiksi, se palautuu prässäämällä oikeaan muotoonsa. Pistot hahmottaa hyvin selkeiden kuvien avulla.

There's a really good introduction with chapters on materials, techniques and finishing of the rugs in this book. There's no need to panic when the work gets distorted to diamond-shape, it can be pressed to the good form later on. The stitches are easy to understand with the illustrations.

Kirjassa on monentyylisiä mattoja ja ohjeet on helposti muokattavissa eri kokoisiksi tai värisiksi tai eri materiaalein tehdyiksi. Puolipistojen lisäksi kirjassa on räsymatto-ohje ja ketjupistoilla kirjottava villamatto. Matot ovat kohtalaisen yksinkertaisia ja helpohkoja ja silti todella hyvän näköisiä. ♥♥♥♥

There are many styles of carpets and the charts are easy to adjust to different sizes or colour. Using different materials you can have different kinds of rugs too. There are mainly tent-stiches used, but also a rag-rug and a wool rug with chain stitches. The charts are relatively simple, but still very good looking. ♥♥♥♥

There are charts for small embroidery projects for the dolls house, the carpets are in a separate volume. There are short, but very instructive chapters on materials and basic techniques. You can understand the stitches from the illustrations even if you have not done embroidery before. Many of the projects in this book is made with hopelessly small material and hopelessly thin yarn, but the projects are rather small so well worth the try. It is most rewarding to have a self-made embroidered pillow or a bell-pull in the dolls house.

There are several styles and techniques coverd in this book. Projects range from pillows to samplers, pictures to tablecloths and embroidered sheets to different kinds of screens. The charts can be easily used in other projects too and by changing the colour-scheme it is easy to change the mood of the project too. ♥♥♥

Toys are just charming in miniature so this book is lovely by definition already. Like other books in this series, this is a good book with clear instructions illustrated with good photographs. The book is divided in instruction and five chapters, toys that teach, push and pull toys, dolls and puppets, parlour games and outdoor toys and games.

Jotkut ohjeet käyttävät nokkelasti pikkuesineitä, kuten neppareita vetolelun pyörinä ja muovieläimiä bunkalangalla päällystettyinä. Ohjeet ovat helposti mukailtavissa moneen tyyliin ja inspiroivat katsomaan maailmaa minisilmin. Osa ohjeista vaatii tarkkuutta ja kärsivällisyyttä, mutta kirjan ohjeet eivät ole varsinaisesti vaikeita. Some of the instructions use ordinary bits and bobs in a clever way, like push-buttons as wheels of pull-toys and small plastic animals covered with bunka. The projects are easy to adjust to different styles and inspire to see things through mini-eyes. Some of the projects need concentration and patience, but they are not difficult. There are a couple of really charming photos where the toys are presented in roomboxes with child dolls. Some of the toys, like the bagatelle are just irresistable. ♥♥♥♥

Oi, tästä kirjasta tekee mieli puhua paljon ja hartaasti. Tämä on yksi ehdottomia mielikirjojani. Uskon, että vaikka ei tykkäisi Carringtonin muotoilutyylistäkään, tästä kirjasta olisi paljon iloa ja apua. Carrington keskittyy muotoiluun, maalaamiseen ja hiuksiin. Nukkien puvustamisesta on vain vähän yli sivu eikä kirja sisällä lainkaan kaavoja. Silti tässäkin sivussa on monta kallisarvoista vinkkiä kankaista, langoista, laskostamisesta ja siitä, mistä voi etsiä tietoa eri aikakausien vaatetuksesta.

Oh, how I love this book. This I like to talk about for long and thoroughly. One of my favourite books. I believe that even if one would not like Carrington's style of modelling, one would find this book pleasurable and helpful. Carrington focuses on modelling, painting and hair. There's only a bit over a page on clothing and there are no patterns at all. Even so in that one page there are many valuable tips and recommendations on fabrics, yarn, draping and where to find information on clothes in different periods.

Kirjassa on johdannon lisäksi kappaleet työtilasta, materiaaleista ja välineistä, ihmisten tarkkailusta, pään ja vartalon mittasuhteista, muotin tekemisestä, pään muodoista, peruspiirteistä, käsistä ja jaloista, kasvonilmeistä ja nuken viimeistelystä (tai hahmon, Carrington ei tee nukkeja). There's chapters of work space, materials and equipment, observation, proportions, basic forms, mold-making, head-shapes, basic features, hands and feet, facial expressions and finishing of the figure. Carrington does not make dolls but figures. That is an interesting thing. What is the difference between a doll and a character or a statue? Carrington's figures are like frozen in motion. They are extremely detailed and expressive both face and body. This makes his work really inspiring and story-telling, but also a bit picturelike or still. There are many uses in dollhouses. Some people want to have dolls that give space to imagination and can be moved around and put in different settings and situations and some people want to have a perfect or most beautiful still-life, that is not supposed to move and change a lot. I see value in both ways of thinking even though I'm a player myself. I do things with my dolls a lot.

Kirjan kuvitus on upea. Käsittämättömän kauniisti viimeistellyt ja huolitellut hahmot on aseteltu aivan huippulavasteisiin, joskus vain muutaman esineen kanssa ja joskus nukkekotiympäristössä. Joissakin kuvissa on pelkät nuket. Tehokasta joka tavalla. Piirroksia on paljon, ne ovat tarpeeksi isoja ja upeita. Ne ovat todella havainnollisia ja tarkkoja. Vaihekuvia valokuvina on varsinkin muottien tekemisestä ja käsien muotoilusta. Vaihekuvia piirroksina taas löytyy hiusten laittamisesta. Voi kun se olisikin noin lennokasta ja helpon näköistä!

The illustration of the book is gorgeous. There are lots and lots of big-enough photos of the amazing figures in top settings, sometimes with just a few things, sometimes in dollhouse settings and sometimes just the figures. Effective in any case. The drawings are just beautiful. There are lots of them and they are good size too. There are photos of different phases of the work in mold-making and making of hands especially and drawn illustrations of different phases of the work in wigging. I wish it was that lively and easy-looking...

Olen todella puolueellinen tämän kirjan suhteen, koska arvostan Carringtonia valtavasti ja pidän kirjasta hurjasti. Uskon kyllä aivan aidosti tästä kirjasta olevan paljon hyötyä muotoilussa. Pitää vaan myös muistaa, että polymeerimassaa voi paistaa välillä. Silloin lämminkätisetkin saavat siitä jotain tolkkua, kun kova pohja pitää muotonsa ja uuteen kerrokseen saa piirteet helpommin. I'm really partial with this book, because I respect James Carrington's work tremendously and I like this book so very much. I truely believe that this would help anybody in modelling. One must just remember that it's possible to bake polymer clay many times, so that you can have a hard base on which to model. Even the warn-handed people like me can get something done a bit by bit. The book is a collection of instruction published in Doll's house magazine. The writers are Janet Harmsworth, Carolyn Harding and Sue Johnson. Many collaborators and a long period of time in publishing makes this book versatile. There are instructions for Marilyn Monroe's white summer-dress, many period costumes and a funny queen-of-hearts dress-up-costume made of playing-cards.

Tässäkin kirjassa on paikoitellen kömpelyyttä ja patsastelevaisuutta kuvissa. Kuvissa nuket ovat pääosassa asuineen, niitä ei ole juuri lavastettu yksityiskohtaisiksi ympäristöiksi. Ohjeissa ja kaavoissa ei sinänsä ole mitään vikaa ja ne on sovellettavissa kunkin omaan tyyliin. Tässä kirjassa liimataan paljon, joten jos haluat ommella vaatteet, kirja voi olla vähän epäsopiva.

In this book there's also some clumsiness in the photos. In the photos the main focus is on the dolls and their attires, there's very little accessories and the dolls are not in detailed settings. The instructions and patterns are ok and again easily applied to one's own style. There's a lot of glueing going on in this book, so if you wish to sew all the clothes, this might not be your choice.

Tämä ei ole aivan lempikirjojani, vaikka onkin oikein kiva. Taidan olla takkifriikki, kun tässäkin silmää viehättävät erityisesti muutamat takit. Myös goottilainen neidon asu korkeine kartiolakkeineen on tosi kiva. ♥♥

This is not among my favourite books, but it's nice anyway. I think I have a soft spot for coats, because here again some of the coats melt my heart. Also a gothic gown with high hat is real nice. ♥♥

I have this book in finnish, one of the few translated, but originally it's in english naturally.

Tämä on loistava kirja vasta harrastusta aloittavalle, innostava ja kannustava, täynnä helppoja ohjeita, kaavoja ja kuvia monenlaiseen ympäristöön sovellettavista mineistä. On nukkea ja huonekalua, pikkutavaraa ja ruokaa niin viktoriaaniseen kuin nykyaikaiseenkin ympäristöön. Kirja etenee huone huoneelta keskittyen vuorotellen huonekaluihin ja pikkutavaroihin. Kirjassa on mukavan kannustava asenne, jonka mukaan kaiken voi ja kannattaa tehdä itse. Ohjeita voi soveltaa ja monimutkaistaa tai yksinkertaistaa oman makunsa mukaisiksi.

This is a good book for anyone beginning the hobby. It's inspiring and couraging, making you want to play. It's filled with easy instructions and patterns for minis for many kinds of settings. There are furniture, dolls, accessories and food for victorian and modern settings among others. The book is structured so that every room has a chapter with a couple of styles. I like the attitude of the book incouraging one to try to make practically everything. The instructions are easy to adapt to anybody's style, making them more complex or simple.

Kirjan kuvissa on viehättävää kömpelyyttä. Tämä on minun ja varmasti monen muunkin eka kirja ja opin kyllä paljon tämän kanssa leikkiessäni vuosia vuosia sitten. Harrastus hiipui, mutta pakkasin tekeleeni muutoissakin mukaani ja löysin ne sitten aikanaan ja kaikki alkoi taas. Tätä ei missään tapauksessa kannata hankkia ainokaiseksi nukkekotikirjaksi ja kokenut harrastaja saattaa pitää kirjaa vähän lapsellisena. Nostalgisistakin syistä tämä kirja saa ♥♥♥.

There's certain charming clumsiness in this book. It's my first miniaturebook and I learned a lot making things with it ages ago. Even though I stopped the hobby and moved I packed the things with me and years later found them again and started it all over again. This is not recommended if one is to buy only one book of dollhouses and someone who's been into dollhouses for a long time might find this a bit childlish. For nostalgic reasons this book gets ♥♥♥.

Kirja on upea, perusteellinen opas nukkekodin nukkien vaatettamiseen ja vähän tekemiseenkin. Suhde on juuri näin päin, luvuista yksi on omistettu nukkien tekemiselle, 8 vaatetukselle ja 2 hiuksille ja asusteille. Nuken muotoiluun on opastusta vajaan sivun verran. Muotoilusta sanotaan mm. että ellei tekijä ole todella kokenut, ei kannata tehdä silmäluomia tai huulia, vaan maalata ne. Itse edustan aika lailla vastakkaista asennetta, eli aina kannattaa kokeilla, koska sitten sen vasta tietää... Nuken kokoaminen ja vartalon ompeleminen on kirjassa hyvin opastettu, vaikkakin itse pidän helpompana neulahuovuttaa vartalo piipunrassirangan päälle.

The book is a stunning, thorough guide for clothing dollhouse dolls and there's a bit about making the dolls too. There's 8 chapters for clothes, 2 for hair and accessories and only one for the actual doll-making. Only less than a page of the 192 is dedicated to modelling and it says that one should not try to make eyelids and lips unless one is really experienced maker and that it is better to paint the features in this scale. I disagree here and believe that it is worth trying... Putting the parts together is well guided on the other hand even though personally I prefer felting the body over a pipe-cleaner- or wire-armature. It's a matter of taste and I find it easier my way.

Kirjan paras anti on huolella tehdyt kappaleet materiaaleista, välineistä ja tekniikoista vaatteiden valmistukseen ja hiuksiin. Kirjasta löytyy niin ruusuntekolaitteen kuin rusetti- ja ruusukelaitteen malli ja paljon tietoa, jota voi soveltaa mihin tahansa aikakauteen ja tyyliin.

The best part of the book is probably the detailed chapters of materials, equipment and methods of making clother and hair. There's the apparel to make roses and bows and rosettes well shown and a lot of information one can adapt to any period or style.

Vaatteisiin on paljon kaavoja, jotka on jaoteltu aikakausien mukaan. Kirjassa on myös luku muodin historiasta. Kirjaa kuvittavat kauniisti tehdyt piirrokset ja valokuvat eri tilanteisiin sommitelluista nukeista vaatteissaan. Kuvat ovat suuret ja selkeät, oikein mainiot. Kuitenkin haluan vähän purnata siitä, että vaatteisiin on käytetty valtavasti huolellisuutta, ne ovat kerrassaan upeita, mutta nuket ovat vähän lapsipuolen asemassa... minä taidan olla Astikaisen Tarun nukkien pilalle hemmottelema ihminen... Tosin aikaa on myös kulunut kirjan tekemisestä ja mm. James Carrington on tehnyt upeaa työtä siinä, että nuket ovat päässeet nukeista persooniksi nukkekodeissa...

There are plenty of patterns for women, men and children for period dollhouses. There's also a chapter of history of fashion. Both beautifully drawn and nicely set photos are used as illustrations all over the book. The photos are big and beautiful to watch. I just need to nag a bit about the dolls here. There's tremendous effort in making the clothes look amazing and they do, but the dolls not so much... I suppose I'm spoiled by Taru Astikainen's dolls... It's also true that it's been a while since the book was made and James Carrington among others has brought dollhouse inhabitants from dolls to personalities...

Tämä on oikein hyvä ja suositeltava vaatekirja, varsinkin herrojen takit ovat aivan vastustamattomia. Muutenkin taidan olla miehiin menevää sorttia, kun kuvituksessa varsinkin nämä vanhemmat herrat sulattavat sydämen... Jos pidät kaavoista tekemisestä, uskoisin että täältä löytyy melkein kaikkeen. ♥♥♥

This is a very good and recommendable clothes-book, especially the coats for the gentlemen are irrisistable. The older men in the photos are just adorable... heart-melting really. If you like making from patterns, this is a great choice. ♥♥♥

Moritz Gottschalk's company produced dollhouses approximately 1865-1942. It was the time of industrialization and the western life changed tremendously. This is interestingly visible in both the production of dollhomes and the houses themselves. The book has short history of the company, introduction and some thoughts on the significance of the factory and the way the houses are made. Then the author goes on to present with lots of illustrations the houses. There are photos of present-day museum-collection-houses, drawings and some old photographs. There are many styles of homes, stables, theatres, stations, warehouses, garages, kitchens and furniture. The book is very inspirational and pretty to watch. The houses are very beautiful and detailed.

Tämä kirja voisi sopia inspiraationlähteeksi nukkekotia rakentavalle tai rakentamista suunnittelevalle. Myös vanhoista nukkekodeista kiinnostuneet todennäköisesti pitävät kirjasta kovasti. Minulle tämä on erittäin mieleinen löytö. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

This could be a great source of inspiration for a person building or planning a house. Also anyone interested in old dollhouses probably would like this a lot. For me it's a very pleasurable find. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
